Pupil Premium
The pupil premium is extra money for schools to help disadvantaged pupils of all abilities achieve their full potential.
The amount of pupil premium funding schools receive is decided by how many disadvantaged pupils they have – schools then receive funding per pupil premium-eligible child.
At seton Primary, our intention is to help each and everyone of our children, irrespective of their background or the challenges they face, to reach their full potential through the careful design of a broad, balanced and enriching curriculum which encourages a sense of awe, wonder and inquisitiveness around learning and embraces the inspiration that can be found in our local area and beyond.
The focus of our pupil premium strategy is to support all of our pupil premium pupils to achieve highly including those who are already high attainers.

More details about how we spend our Pupil Premium funding can be found in the Strategy document at the bottom of this page.
How does it work?
- First, check if you qualify – it is not just if you are unemployed, the criteria for pupils eligible can be found here. Qualifying for free school meals gives access to the pupil premium, full details for eligibility can be found here.
- Registering is really quick and easy – if you think you qualify, contact school who will help you to register.
- If you want your child to have a free, healthy meal at lunchtime that’s great – they will get the free meal (saving you more than £400 a year), and the school gets £953 extra.
- If you don’t want your child to have the school meals they can continue as normal – as long as you qualify and are registered, the school still gets £953 extra.
No one will know you have registered and it will not affect any other benefits you are claiming.
