Rock detectives!

5 October 2021Year 3

This term, Year 3 children have been exploring rock names, properties and rock formation. In our Science sessions, the children have learnt about three different natural ways that rocks are formed; sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. They then made their own rocks using chocolate shavings, heat and pressure to replicate the natural processes on a smaller scale. Children then worked incredibly hard to describe their rocks using property descriptions and compared similarities and differences.
