Year 1 Newsletter 30th June
What a busy week we have had! On our trip to Paignton Zoo the weather may have been a little damp and dull but we all had a fantastic time. We were really proud of how the children represented our school, showing impeccable behaviour throughout the day. We were very fortunate to have a special lesson from the Zoo’s Education Department where the children learnt more about camouflage, colour and pattern in the animal kingdom. Thank you to Mrs Baldwin and Mrs Turley for helping us on the day.
Next week is another busy week. On Friday we have a special visit from the artist Paul Priestley who will be teaching the children about the great artist Matisse. We will be continuing to practise our song and work on our art project. In maths we will be focussing on direction and position with fun activities planned. We will also be reading and writing in groups.
At home – A few ideas for you to try at home this week:
- Look at an analogue clock with your child and discuss ¼, ½ and ¾ turns
- Enjoy the Summer Fete with your family
- Please keep an eye on the weather and ensure your child has appropriate clothing at school
- All children need a bottle of water every day
We hope to see you at the Summer Fete on Saturday if you can make it!
