Year 1 Newsletter 26th May

26 May 2016Year 1

Dear Parents,

We have all enjoyed exploring the woods in this wonderful weather we’ve been having! Today the children ventured to the field and woods to write some nature poems with lots of fantastic language being used. The Sponsored Scramble was also very exciting – please remember to bring in your completed sponsorship form and money if you haven’t done so already.

Our Topic Next Half Term – We will be focussing on sea creatures and the seaside. Our curriculum map (Summer 2) is on the school website with more detailed information about our learning. We will need shoe boxes for our art project – if you have any please bring them into school.

Literacy – In our first week back we will be introducing our new underwater topic. We will find out lots of information about sea creatures. The children will then make their own fact books.

Maths – We will be continuing to work on our number bonds to 10 and 20. We will be using money to help us.

At home – A few ideas for you to try at home in the holidays:

  • Have a lovely break with your children and enjoy the sunshine!

Thank you for all your support over the last half term. Have a lovely break.
