Year 1 Newsletter 15th October
Year 1 have had a really fun week planning our stories on “story mountains” and visiting Tesco to pick our special super food. We were incredibly lucky to be given a behind-the-scenes tour of Tesco. See our website for some photos of our morning. A special thank you to Rhoda and all the staff at Tesco and also the parents who helped us today. The children had a wonderful time!
Literacy – Next week we will be dressing up as Superheroes (real or made-up) on Friday 23rd. The children will be taking part in lots of role play and sporting activities on the day.
Maths – We will be exploring different 2D and 3D shapes and using mathematical language to describe them.
At home – A few ideas for you to try at home this week:
- See what shapes you can find around you at home. Talk about the names of different 2D and 3D shapes and their properties
- Choose which super hero your child would like to dress up as. Maybe you’d like to design your own outfit and make this with your child?
Our Open Day will be on Tuesday 20th – we look forward to welcoming you all in either the morning or afternoon. This is a great opportunity to see how children progress throughout the school and the range of activities on offer for them to enjoy.
Swimming will be cancelled next week due to it being Open Day. We hope the children have enjoyed their lessons. We will start swimming again in 2016.
Have a lovely weekend!
