Year Six - Paper mâché
This term in Art year six have been exploring Mayan masks, linking with our learning in history; where we have delved into the Mayan civilisation.
We have been developing our sketch books and sharing our ideas about collage and sculpture. This week we began to make the structure of our masks using paper mâché, which was incredibly messy but lots of fun. It was great to work in pairs and perfect the technique of layering and wetting the newspaper to create a strong enough structure.
We will continue sculpting our masks and will decorate them, using collage. Keep an eye out for our final pieces!
