Year 2 Fire Safety Talks

Year 2 were visited by Keri from Devon Fire Service today to give the children a talk on fire safety. This was linked to our work on the Great Fire of London.

Keri explained all the different roles of the fire service (not just fighting fires!) and used her Husky dog to demonstrate how they once helped a dog who had got its head stuck in some metal railings!

The children learnt how important smoke alarms are – if Thomas Farrinor had had one in his Pudding Lane bakery, the Great Fire of London would never have happened!

They also learnt to stay away from matches and lighters, and to use the Stop, Drop and Roll technique if their clothes ever caught on fire.
