World's Largest Lesson
“We only have one planet. We have nowhere else to go. If we use our creative powers properly we don’t need anywhere else. If we take care of it, and each other, everything we need is right here” Sir Ken Robinson
Along with many other schools around Britain and around the world, Key Stage 2 pupils were asked today to come up with one idea to change the world, as part of the World’s Largest Lesson by UNICEF, UNESCO and other organisations. There were many excellent suggestions including; raising taxes for the rich to help the poor, making life fairer for girls and boys, stopping wars, having clean water and air.
All these excellent suggestions (and more) match with the 17 United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
Pupils watched a film introduced by Malala Yousafzai (the youngest Nobel Prize laureate) that challenged them to 1) learn the goals and then 2) tell people about the goals.
All pupils took the goals away with them and together, we can all help to makes these goals a reality in 2030!
