We’ve had a very exciting Spring term, including a busy week away on residential. Well done to all the children for the hard work they’ve been doing so far this year.
The Summer term is one of the most important times in Year 6. Firstly, as you know, the children will be taking their end of Key Stage 2 tests – the SATs – during the week of 9th May. Additionally, we will be supporting the children in their transition from primary to secondary school.
The children are bringing home with them two past SATs papers to work on: A spelling, punctuation and grammar test and one maths paper. They are encouraged to use these papers as a learning tool and to remind them of the areas they most need to focus on. Firstly, they may wish to take the test under timed conditions to practise for the real thing, then look up how to complete questions that have troubled them. It is extremely important that the children are getting into a habit of self-checking their work for unnecessary mistakes.
Alongside the great websites in the Children’s Zone, including MyMaths, please see below for a number of helpful websites in the preparation for SATs week.
Revision Sites: (Just focus on the Literacy and Maths areas)
Past Papers: (Please do not use the ‘2016 Sample Papers’ for any revision at home)
We hope you find these useful and have a great Easter break.
Please remember the 3 R’s – reading, revision and RELAXATION!
