Reception Newsletter 6th October

6 October 2016Latest News Parent Year R

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for such a fantastic turn-out at our Phonics meetings today. We hope you found it useful and will be sending home lots of information for you soon. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you need support with phonics over the coming year. If you would like to support your child at home, the sounds we have learnt so far are s, a, t, p, i, n, m and tomorrow, d.

Harvest Festival and Donations

Thank you for your generous donations to our ‘Open Hearts, Open Borders’ boxes. We will still be receiving items for a short while after our Harvest performance, so if you still have things to bring in it will be much appreciated. The children have been practising our Harvest songs very hard at school (and some at home too!) and are looking forward to showing the rest of the school tomorrow. We will record a performance for you to view on our website.

‘Wow!’ Moments

Thank you for the ‘Wow!’ moments we have had back already! The children enjoyed sharing them with the class. If you need any more slips, please let us know as it is continued for the whole Reception year.

Measles

We have received the following information:

Measles continues to circulate in the South West. In order to minimise the risk of catching measles parents and staff are recommended to check that they and their children have had the scheduled two doses of MMR. If not, they can see their GP and this can be done at any age.

 Headlice

We have had another reported case of headlice. Please check your child’s hair and treat them if necessary. Thank you.

Things to try at home this week

  • Practise recognising and naming 2D shapes around the house. In Reception we begin with circle, triangle, square and rectangle.
  • Ask your child who they would like a play date with. We can help point you towards the correct parents if you are not sure!

Thanks for your continued support. Enjoy your weekend!
