Reception Newsletter 5th July
It has been an incredibly exciting week with the safe arrival of our chicks! Four out of our six eggs hatched out yesterday evening and morning. We were able to film them hatching and some of the children saw them hatch in real life too! We will post the hatching video soon on our school website. The children had a great time visiting the marshes. We did not let the Great British Weather stop us. Tomorrow morning we will be working alongside the Year 6 children to continue to celebrate Natural Seaton Festival. What a wonderful week full of nature and enjoying the great outdoors.
Next week we will be continuing with our focus on money and the value of coins. We have an ice cream parlour for our role play area at the moment and the children have loved “buying” and “selling” different treats! Maybe this weekend you might like to look at some coins and discuss their values? You could visit a shop to buy some items.
This week we have been adding to our pirate stories. The children have all worked incredibly hard to form sentences with finger spaces, full stops and even some exciting vocabulary and speech. Next week the children will be writing about our new chicks.
Things you could try at home
- Try some activities to develop fine motor control/finger strength – Lego, using tongs/tweezers, sticking with sequins, sorting beads, threading activities
- Write a shopping list with your child and then visit the shop to buy some items.
