We have had a busy week now that we are in all day! We have really enjoyed starting phonics, visiting the woods and our music sessions with Mrs Stonex. We think the children have coped really well with these longer days and are very proud of how well they are settling in.
This week in Phonics we have been learning the sounds s, a, t and tomorrow we will be focusing on p. A big ‘thank you’ to all the parents who attended our phonics presentations today. If you could not make it then we will be sending home a handout. Please do come and talk to us if you are unsure of anything!
Next week we will be learning more about the numbers 0-5. We will be thinking about some of the different ways to represent these numbers and the children will have the opportunity to explore some of our maths resources. The children will have lots of practical activities to support this.
Things to try at home this week
Try some online phonics games (the links can be found on our school website or on our phonics handout).
Visit the local library. If your child is not a member then now is the time to sign them up! Share and enjoy some different texts together.
Next Tuesday we will be out of class all day attending an EYFS training day. We hope to bring back lots of great new ideas! The children will be taught by Mrs Hunt and Mrs Bartlett who regularly teach throughout the school and are well known. Our fabulous teaching assistants, Mrs Wood and Mrs Trott, will be in as usual.
