Reception Newsletter 28th June 2018

Reception Newsletter 28.6.18

Dear Parents,

Summer is here! It is very hot in school and the children are working hard despite the extreme temperatures. Thank you to those of you that have provided suncream; the children are really embracing putting it on by themselves. Thank you also for your tombola bottle donations. It is always a popular summer fete event and raises a lot of money for our school.

Sports Day

Tomorrow is sports day. We have sent a separate parentmail about this with some more information about the day.

This week we received a letter from Captain Blackbeard to say his ship was sinking! We have begun to write stories about how we could rescue him and will continue this next week.

This week in Maths we have been showing off our problem solving skills. We have used lots of practical resources to show how to work out the answer to different addition and subtraction number problems. Next week we will be exploring money.

Things you could try at home

  • Talk about the different coins and notes we use in England. Take a trip to the shop and pay for something with coins.
  • Make up your own sports day game. This could involve obstacles, dressing up, buckets of water etc. Ask your child to write some instructions or draw the course if they are keen.
