Reception Newsletter 25th May

Dear Parents and Carers,

Yesterday we said goodbye to our chicks as they went off to their spacious new home on Miss Broom’s farm. We look forward to hearing how they are doing and to seeing them change as they grow. We hope the children enjoyed the experience of hatching chicks; it is truly magical!

Sponsored Scramble

We were very proud of all of the children who took part in the sponsored scramble on Tuesday. They all really enjoyed themselves and each child managed to complete the whole 10 laps! Thank you for your efforts in raising money, we have had some fantastic amounts donated so far and it will go a long way.

This week in Literacy we have completed our Goldilocks stories and been using our phonics knowledge to read and write some tricky words featuring digraphs and trigraphs. The children have concentrated really well and are showing a great attitude and resilience for trickier tasks.

The children have enjoyed showing us what they know about number sentences this week. They have used counting objects or fingers to work out the answer. Some children have even problem solved in their head! They have been very busy making up their own number sentences and solving them too.

Seaton Wedding

On Friday 9th June we will be acting out a whole school Seaton wedding in our local church. Children across the school have been selected as Bride, Groom, Bridesmaids etc and all of the children are invited to dress up for the day in ‘Wedding Guest Attire’. Please can we ask that all children wear flat shoes as we have to walk to the church and then back to school. Children may bring school uniform in a named bag to change into after the wedding if they wish.

Things to try at home over the holiday

  • Talk to your child about weddings and why people may or may not have them.
  • Visit a new place with your child. It’s always fun to explore the world.

Have a great half term!
