Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a fantastic week, settling in to our new lunchtime routine. Many of the children have enjoyed trying some different foods and eating alongside their friends. Please be assured that water is available at lunchtimes and throughout the day from our water fountains so your child’s water bottle may be fuller than you anticipate if they are drinking elsewhere. We encourage the children to drink regularly and they always have access to their bottles.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the PTA coffee and cake morning today. We look forward to seeing lots of you at future meetings and events.

We will be starting our phonics lessons next week. We will be holding two phonics meetings at school to introduce you to the language used and our teaching methods. We will also discuss how you can support reading, writing and phonics development at home. These meetings will be on Thursday 6th October at 2:30-3pm and 5-5:30pm. If you are not able to attend one of these meetings then we will be sending home written information and advice. We are also available to discuss phonics further or if you have any other questions.

Next week the children will be staying for the whole day. Pick-up time will be 3:15pm. Mrs Stonex will be teaching music each Thursday afternoon. Our regular teaching assistants (Mrs Trott, Mrs Wood and Mrs McNiece) and Mrs Tomlin (Thursdays only) will also be in class on Thursday afternoons. Mrs Hunt teaches in Miss Mabin’s class every other Tuesday pm.

Our Curriculum Map is available to view on our website. It outlines some of our learning for this half term, with our topic focus “All About Me.” The children are now at an age where they want to share their learning and experiences with others, but are sometimes not sure how to do this. Therefore, we have a huge focus in school on sharing, making friends and learning how to resolve conflicts appropriately. We ask for your patience as the children learn these important social skills, and would like to reassure you that we will inform you of incidents we deem serious. Often we resolve small conflicts in school and prefer to leave it at that.

Thank you for your continued support. Don’t forget, tomorrow is “Jeans for Genes” day – suggested donation of 50p. Have a wonderful weekend.
