Reception Newsletter 20th April

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you had a lovely Easter break. The children seem to have come back very refreshed and ready to learn and we are very excited for what the summer term is going to bring.

Swimming starts again next week. Children need to bring a swimming costume (one piece) or swimming trunks, a towel, flip flops or slip on shoes (such as crocs), a swimming hat and goggles if required. Please remember that children do not need their own floats or armbands.

Mrs Burkill’s class will swim on Mondays.

Miss Mabin’s class will swim on Tuesdays.

Literacy and Maths

Next week in Literacy we will be learning about life cycles of chickens and introducing the children to our school incubator and chicken eggs, and starting the countdown to when they are going to hatch. We will be putting the life cycle in order and writing a sentence about how we feel about our new arrivals. In Maths we will be learning to count in 10’s and 2’s, using lots of fun resources to help us. You could practise this at home too.

  • Reading challenge books will be changed on Friday’s. Please ensure your child brings it back so that we have enough for everyone to swap.
  • Library days continue to be Monday for Mrs Burkill’s class and Tuesday for Miss Mabin’s class.
  • PE kits need to be in school every day. This now includes sensible trainers (not plimsolls if possible) as we will be teaching some lessons outside.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Mabin and Mrs Burkill
