Reception Newsletter 12th October
We have had another busy week in Reception. In Phonics we have learnt the sounds ‘g’, ‘o’, ‘c’, ‘k’ and tomorrow we will be learning ‘ck’ (our first digraph!) and the tricky word ‘to’. We have really enjoyed playing some blending games on www.phonicsplay.co.uk – we have played ‘Buried Treasure’ which is a free game (we are learning phase 2 sounds currently) so take a look if you have time!
In Maths this week we have been hunting for numbers around the school and getting to know the areas a little better. We have also been using instruments and actions as things to count, rather than objects that can be physically moved. This has been tricky for some of us so we will keep practising in lots of games throughout the year.
We will be focusing on Literacy next week and using videos and pictures to create lots of language around special adventures. We will have a go at drawing a picture of somewhere we’d like to explore and are hoping that some of us will be able to identify some sounds to write down as a label. We are sure we will have lots of fun! In Phonics we will be learning the sounds ‘e’, ‘u’, ‘r’, ‘h’ and ‘b’ and also the tricky word ‘go’. A list of the phonics actions we use with the children can be found on our website (here: https://seatonprimary.org.uk/seaton/reception/phonics-actions-2017/).
Things to try at home this week
- Practise the phonics sounds we have learnt so far.
- Share some of your own adventures with your child. Perhaps read an adventure story together.
Have a wonderful weekend!
