Reception Newsletter 12th December 2019
The children are counting down the days until Christmas and we are really excited about our upcoming nativity shows. Please ensure that you read the ‘Nativity arrangements’ parentmail so that you know what time to drop off and pick up children for the evening performances.
This week we have introduced the Phase 3 sounds or, ur, ow and tomorrow, oi. We also learnt the tricky words ‘are’ and ‘her’. Next week, we will be introducing our final sounds ear, air, ure and er.
This week we have enjoyed looking at Stick Man’s journey and writing about a place he visited. The children had lots of good ideas for new places for Stick Man to visit and were excited to draw pictures to illustrate their writing.
Next week we will have a topic focus, looking at why Christmas is important to Christians and why Jews celebrate Hanukkah.
Next week in Maths we will continue with lots of short whole class sessions, focusing on number.
Things to try at home this week
- Make a seasonal decoration with your child. This could be Christmas themed or winter themed.
- Try out some Maths games on topmarks.co.uk to practise counting and ordering numbers.
