Reception Newsletter 11th October 2018

11 October 2018Latest News Parent Year R

Dear Parents,

Don’t forget that tomorrow Friday 12th October we will be performing some of our Harvest songs in the school hall at 3pm. We hope to see you there!

Reading Books
Reading books should be brought into school every day in their clear plastic wallet as well as the Reading Record book. Children may be asked to share these books at any time during the week and we do not have set days when we change books. Library books only need to be brought to school on a Monday.
Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please do come and speak to us.

This week in Phonics we have been learning the sounds k, ck, e, u and tomorrow r. We will be focusing on the tricky word ‘no’. Next week we will be learning the sounds h, b, f and l. As well as the tricky words ‘go’ and ‘the’.

Next week we will finish off our focus on numbers 0-5 and beyond. We will be thinking about some of the different ways to represent these numbers and the children will have the opportunity to explore some of our maths resources. The children will have lots of practical activities to support this.

Home Times
At home times we ask that you wait until all of the children are sent safely out to their grown up before trying to talk to the teaching staff. This is to ensure that we know where each child is and know that they have found their grown up. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Things to try at home this week
• Practise putting on coats and doing up zips and fastenings. We have noticed some of the children find this a real challenge and with the cooler days arriving children need to be able to independently put on and fasten their own coats.
• Draw a picture of your favourite meal and add some labels to it. We’d love to share these drawing in class next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!
