Despite the freezing conditions, approximately 90 children from Seaton Primary ran the Grizzly 2k Fun Run, 2k Junior Cub Run or 4k Junior Grizzly races last Saturday. The children showed excellent stamina and perseverance to complete the races, demonstrating the effect the Daily Mile is having on their fitness levels.
Full results for all the races can be found on the Axe Valley Runners Grizzly website http://www.axevalleyrunners.org.uk/grizzly/
A special mention goes to some of our highest finishers; Rupert Oldfield (6th), Ray Larner (7th) and Alfie Mungovan (9th) in the under 8s 2k Fun Run. Harrison Walker (4th), Jenson Mitchell (5th), Devon Welsh (9th) and Charlotte Mansfield (12th – first girl) in the under 11s 2k Junior Cub. Jericho (15th) and Zosia (24th) Hannant in the over 11s 4k Junior Grizzly, competing alongside secondary school aged children.
We also had a number of staff that took part in the modified Grizzly run on Sunday. Running through the blizzard and getting to the finish line was an achievement in itself, and it is certainly an experience none of us will ever forget! We have included a couple of photos taken during the Sunday run to try and give you some idea of what it was like.
A huge thank you goes to Axe Valley Runners for organising and marshalling the events in challenging conditions, and to all the supporters for braving the wintry conditions to cheer on the children and staff.
