Fossil hunting in Charmouth!

24 April 2016Latest News Year 3

In Year 3 we are learning about rocks and fossils this term. To aid this learning, we visited Charmouth which is famous for its fossils! When we arrived, the children watched a clip all about the area and the types of rocks and fossils we find in this part of the world. They also learnt about what those fossils might look like on the beach and how to look out for them.

We then walked along the beach and did some fossil hunting of our own with some of the experts. The children really enjoyed searching between the pebbles and collecting ammonites, belemnites and fools’ gold!

All children behaved incredibly and a particular “well done!” goes to those children who managed to drop their bag of goodies at the last minute but didn’t complain!
