Fire of London!

For the last half term, Year 2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London. We learnt many different facts about the famous event and used this to write a newspaper report and an information ‘lift-the-flap’ page. We had a go at writing with quills and ink, created some ‘fire’ art work and became history detectives!

Our parents came in for a DT parent involvement session where we all designed and built our own building from 1666 London. These included houses, churches, St Paul’s Cathedral and London Bridge. Once all the buildings were complete, they were put on a special base to create the streets of London as it would have looked in 1666. Then we set fire to them on the playground to recreate the Great Fire of London! It was a spectacular event that they whole school enjoyed watching, and it finished our topic off brilliantly!
