Dr Jones' Artefact Adventure
On Open Day Year 4 became archaeologists for the day and took part in Dr Jones’s Artefact Adventure. Watch the video below to find out what they were aiming to do to help Dr Jones save his artefacts from the Temple of Apollo.
In the morning the children did an archaeological dig using the methods and tools like real archaeologists. They recorded thier artefacts carefully and thought about some key questions. Groups also completed an accreditation test to make sure the dig was done properly. In the afternoon children researched temples to prepare the artefacts for a museum display. They sorted the finds into real/fake, ancient Greek/not Greek and prepared display information labels.
The day was a huge success and we hope visitors enjoyed having a go at a mini-dig, watching the children and touring around the wonderful museum displays.
Congratulations to all of Year 4 for helping Dr Jones complete his Artefact Adventure.
