Welcome to Year 6!

Year 6 is an extremely busy, but fun-filled, year where we look to develop the child as a whole, preparing them for the transition to secondary school. Not only will the children be able to improve their academic skills, they will have the opportunities to work effectively in a team, help younger children around the school and take part in some fantastic activities.

Some of the great things the children can look forward to include: our residential trip to PGL, canoeing, the Year 6 play, supervising the Sponsored Scramble and leading the games for the PTA Christmas and summer events.

Your child will have been given a Seaton Primary School Planner. Please see this for up to date information on homework, trips, messages and handy homework hints, as well as documenting their regular reading!

In our experience, the children tend to complete their homework tasks over the weekend. Therefore, homework will be given out on a Friday and collected in on the following Tuesday. Any homework that is completed early can be kept in the classroom in the children’s trays. Even if homework is not set, there is a school expectation that your child will read and practice their number skills on a daily basis, as this is a core skill that underpins their learning.
