“Welcome to Reception!”

“Welcome to Reception at Seaton Primary School, otherwise known as the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ or EYFS. Our aims in Reception are to develop children’s independence, confidence and the social skills needed to have a successful future. Our curriculum is based on learning through play, where children explore and experiment with new and developing knowledge and skills. This helps them to better understand the world around them in a fun and playful way.

We believe that children benefit most from a mixture of adult initiated learning and child led learning. This allows both the opportunity to model skills and observe the children at work. Each child is catered for, both in the planning of the curriculum and in the assessment. We use our knowledge of each child to plan activities which follow their interests and allow them to express their individuality. We pride ourselves on our strong links with parents and carers, and hope that you enjoy looking through our blogs, which give a flavour of what we get up to throughout the year.”
